Tools

This section explains the operation of each toolbar button, from left to right.

Save scene

Saves the scene to the Case Manager as it is when you click the button Save scene.

This way, you can exit 3D Studio and reopen the scene at a later time by loading it into 3D Studio and clicking Select, as shown in the image.

Download STL

The button Download STL exports a binary STL file of the selected meshes and downloads it to your computer.

1️⃣ Press the button Descargar STL. A window will open with a list of all the meshes loaded in the scene, following the same order and format as in the sidebar, with a checkbox that allows you to select each one.

2️⃣ After selecting the meshes you want to export, click the button Download STL. The geometry of the selected meshes with their current position, rotation and scale will be downloaded in an STL file.

Selection tools

Las Selection tools They are used to select and edit areas of a mesh before applying operations (erasing, trimming, etc.). Includes 3 modes: Flat, Brush and Points.

1️⃣ Select a mesh and press the button Selection tools in the bottom toolbar. The selection panel will open on the toolbar.

2️⃣ Inside the panel you have three buttons for different selection modes; Plane, Brush and Points.

  • Selection by plan

Interact with the plane to define which part is selected. Adjust its position and orientation according to the area you want to select. Ideal for clean orientation cuts.

  • Selection with brush

Adjust the size with the slider and paint on the mesh to mark the selection area. You can do progressive selection for several passes. Ideal for quick selection.

  • Selection by points

Trace the outline on the mesh surface by drawing points with Shift+click and close/validate the trace to convert it to an area selection. Ideal for when you need precision on edges.

3️⃣ Once the area to edit is selected, you can perform the following operations by pressing the following buttons:

Transform/Deform

The Transform/Warp tool is used to reposition meshes on scene.

When you press the button Transform/Deform The transformation gizmo will be activated which can be hidden by pressing the key[H].

By default, the translation mode is activated (key[G]) so when you move the mouse while holding the click the mesh will move in space. If you have the gizmo activated, you must drag the axes.

To make rotational movements you have to hold down the Ctrl key. This functionality is recommended to be used with the gizmo activated to be able to select the axis in which you want to rotate the mesh.

Guardar

waxed

Waxing tool is used to adjust and position wax or anatomy meshes inside the case. It is only activated if the selected mesh is of that type, maintaining a controlled workflow on that type of parts.

It is similar to the Transform/Warp tool but includes some more functionality. When you press the button waxed The transformation gizmo is activated on the selected mesh, which can be modified by dragging the axes or rings of the gizmo.

1️⃣ The transformation of climbed holding down the Shift +Q keys while moving the mouse over the axis you want to scale.

2️⃣Uniform lineup moving the mouse while holding the Shift key.

3️⃣ By pressing the Shift + M keys, the equivalent tooth is positioned in the same way as the tooth we are working on.

4️⃣ To work on all the meshes that belong to the same group, you must press the A key.

Sculpt

The Sculpt tool allows you to deform the surface of a mesh in real time with a brush on the 3D model. Modify the geometry of the selected mesh while dragging the mouse.

For each operation it is possible to adjust the brush size and the intensity of the effect.

Operations

  • Smooth: smoothes irregularities and reduces roughness.
  • Flatten: Flatten the affected area.
  • Pinch: Collapses vertices toward the center of the brush.
  • Inflate: pump/remove volume.
  • Desinflar: dogs/reduce volume.
  • Drag: Moves a set of vertices around the starting point.

Changes can be undone with Ctrl+Z during sculpting and select different meshes from the same group during use.

Guardar

Measure

This tool allows you to measure the distance between two points in millimeters.

To create a measurement you must press the Shift key and click on the start point of the mesh and another Shift + click on the end point. The measurement between the two points will be drawn showing the distance in millimeters.

You can reposition a point by selecting it while holding down the Shift key. The measurement will update automatically.

Closing the Measure tool will disappear all measurements that have been made.

Guardar

Mesh repair

The Repair Mesh tool analyzes the selected mesh to detect geometric problems and repair them with assistance.

Mainly allows:

  • Detect gaps.
  • Visualize those defects on the mesh.
  • Choose which defects to repair.
  • Carry out a repair that closes gaps and cleans up the geometry to make it more stable/usable.

1️⃣Open the Repair Mesh tool and press Inspect mesh to look for defects.

2️⃣ Review the list of detected incidents. You will see the flaws highlighted in the mesh.

3️⃣ Click on Mesh repair to run the repair.

Add primitive shapes

This tool allows you to add the primitive shapes of cube, cylinder and sphere to the scene.

1️⃣ Open the tool Add primitive shapes and choose the shape you want to add to the scene. It will appear in the center of the scene.

2️⃣ These shapes can be modified with the tool waxed.
